The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd AC's hold an indispensable role on set and good AC's are always in demand. However there is little formal training about the roles and responsibilities of the various AC's and on set is not always the best place to learn.

Course Outline:
- Roles and duties of 1st AC, 2nd AC, 3rd AC
- Basic cabling management
- Tripod set up, usage, and maintenance
- Log sheet functions (why and how to create and fill in log sheets)
- How to clean lenses / filters
- Battery management (charging & maintaining supply)
- Useful attire and accessories for the AC
- How to 'slate' correctly
- Proper use of shoot commands
- Setting up a video village (small vs large scale)
- How to calibrate monitor (video village)
- Basic Camera Build
- Procedures to follow when checking/renting/collect camera equipment
- Assisting the 1st AC / 2nd AC (understanding roles)
- Basic focus pulling techniques
- Understanding camera department discipline , work flow and on-set etiquette
Instructor:
Shawn started his media career in 1998 with a rental house and worked in various crew positions including PA, Junior Grip, Junior Camera Assistant, Film Clapper loader roles. He has experienced a wide variety of shoots and worked his way to First AC and DoP.
