Colour Grading and Motion Graphics

Colour Grading and Motion Graphics

Software Used

In the past Colour Grading was often an expensive affair due to the high cost of the suites required. As the price of hardware and software have fallen, Colour Grading has become much more affordable. However, it is still a specialised ability that involves both technical and aesthetic skills.

This 3-day hands-on course gives participants a firm foundation in the art and science of Colour Grading.

In this course, we start with balancing & Primary Correction, then move on to the finer points of Secondary Grading, including controlling selected tones/colours of the image using keying and curves. We also teach attendees to use Masks to isolate & track regions, practise Continuity Matching between shots, Animate Grades, do round-tripping with an editing program, and much more. Attendees will also learn the basics of setting up their own grading suites.

We start with the colour grading tools within Adobe Premiere Pro , then dive deep into the industry standard DaVinci Resolve so you come away with a clear understanding of the principles of colour grading and the ability to use industry standard software like DaVinci Resolve to perform complex grades.

Participants come away with not just the ability to operate the software but with a deep understanding of the principles of colour grading.
