Course Description

Our 3 day course will provide you with the core video editing skills you need to make the most of this extremely powerful application.

DaVinci Resolve was primarily known as a colour grading tool but has unleashed a plethora of editing features ,making it a viable editing platform which is rapidly being adopted by a range of organisations .  The free version is full featured and hence a great way to start editing

This course is designed for anyone who wants to learn to edit professional looking videos  on DaVinci Resolve.

The skills acquired are useful across a range of industries and job roles that require video creation and editing. They include media, advertising, marketing, communications and learning and development.

Course Objectives :

The main skill/competency addressed is Video Editing . This is done using a specific software called Da Vinci Resolve . This is an affordable professional  editing package that offers a fully functioning free version also. Da Vinci Resolve offered a slew of abilities including editing, sound, colour grading, motion graphics and audio but this course focuses on the video editing aspect.

More and more  organisations require editing of their video content and  are taking up Da Vinci Resolve ,especially since there is a free version available. Hence ability to effectively edit in Resolve will increase employability for content creation, marketing and communication roles. Freelance editors who can work in Resolve would also find themselves more hireable by production houses and post production companies.

By the end of this course the learner should be able to support the creation of edited video content according to requirements in editing briefs

They should be be able to perform the following

    • Prepare editing equipment according to project requirements

    • Import and organise media according to project requirements

    • Export the edited video in compliance with project delivery specifications

    • Understand Copyright and Legal Issues that can affect the project

Assessment

There is an assessment at the end of the course ,consisting of a Written Assessment – Online Test in the form of MCQs and a Practical Exam – Simulation . Both assessments are open-book The assessment duration is 1 hour. 

Prerequisites

No previous editing knowledge is required.  If you are already an experienced editor who is familiar with a professional editing tool such as Adobe Premiere or Avid Media Composer you should consider our DaVinci Resolve for Experienced Editors course as you may find this course too basic .

The course and materials are in English and some technical terms are introduced so learners should have a basic command of written and spoken English.

Learners should be able to operate a computer and perform basic computing functions such as opening and creating folders and saving files.
