Introduction
Colour Grading used to be a very expensive process available only to high budget productions. However with the emergence of more affordable tools it has become a norm for more content to be colour graded. While colour grading has become more prevalent it is still a specialised ability that involves both technical and aesthetic expertise.
This hands-on course gives learners a firm foundation in the art and science of Colour Grading.
We start with balancing and primary correction, then move on to the finer points of secondary grading, including controlling selected tones/colours of the image using keying and curves. We also teach learners to use Masks to isolate & track regions, practise Continuity Matching between shots, animate grades, perform round-tripping with an editing program, and much more. We also help learners understand the basics of setting up their own grading suites.
Hands on practice begins with the colour grading tools within Adobe Premiere Pro, then we dive deep into the industry standard DaVinci Resolve so learners develop a clear understanding of the principles of colour grading and the ability to use industry standard software to perform complex colour grades for both aesthetic and technical purposes. The course is conduced on Mac workstations but all software and techniques are applicable to Windows also
