Introduction

Camera movement is  an essential tool in any video content creators toolbox. With the camera acting as the audience’s portal into the world being created, it’s crucially important for the camera, and the way it moves, to enhance the story being told, rather than hinder it. While that might sound like a simple concept, in reality, it can be as complex as any content creator  decides to make it.

The right camera movements can assist in drawing the viewer deeper into a scene, reveal more information about a scene or character or affect the mood of the scene.

While there are many new tools for creating camera movement there has to be an understanding of why the camera is moved rather than just how to use the tools to do it.

This course covers both by discussing the philosophy of camera movement using case studies as well as a strong hands on component where participants learn to work with the tools used for camera movement. These include compact camera movement tools such as stabilisers, sliders, dollies,  gimbals and jibs.
