Brief Description

Ideal for electronic news gathering (ENG), electronic field production (EFP), and other portable video applications, the Focus FS-3 Camera-Mount DTE Recorder mounts directly to full-size DV camcorders and brings Direct To Edit® disk recording technology to the field. Featuring industry-standard Anton/Bauer, V-mount, PAG lock, or NP battery mount plates, the Focus FS-3 fits perfectly between the camcorder and the battery using a DV input/output port, and draws power from the camcorder’s existing battery system.

Key Features

With the Focus FS-3, you can record only to disk or record simultaneously to disk and tape for archive and backup. The Focus FS-3 features removable FireWire drives in 40GB (3 hours) and 80GB (6 hours) configurations, making it easy to swap out FS-HDD1 drives as needed. And if you require extended storage, you can daisy chain up to four external FireWire drives.

With 8MB of cache, an internal shock gasket, 10 seconds of electronic shock cache, and a file error correction utility, the FS-3 ensures that you never miss a shot. As added protection, the retro-cache record feature places up to 10 seconds of retro video at the beginning of any clip. Use the retro disk feature, and you can extend retro recording time to the entire available space on your disk drive.

With the Focus FS-3, managing clips is easy. The scene marking feature enables you to assign clips to custom, prenamed folders for easy access later. You can identify and categorize only the clips you need—while you shoot. The Focus FS-3 also offers time-lapse recording, a variety of playback options, and a VTR-style interface. Remote control options include AV/C via FireWire, infrared remote, wired remote,GPI, or RS-232C.

It’s ideal for electronic news gathering (ENG), electronic field production (EFP), videography, and other portable applications. The Focus FS-3 features removable FireWire drives, making it easy to swap out FS-HDD1 drives as needed. And if you require extended storage or playback, you can daisy chain up to four external FireWire drives. The Focus FS-3 can be controlled directly from your camcorder as well as share your battery.

The Focus FS-3 (NTSC) unit is designed for mounting directly to camcorders or other devices that feature an Anton/Bauer Battery System. Also includes a single FSHDD 40GB FireWire disk drive.

Focus FS-3 V-Mount

The Focus FS-3 (NTSC) unit is designed for mounting directly to camcorders or other devices that feature an IDX/Sony V-Mount Battery System. It also includes a single FSHDD 40GB FireWire disk drive.

Focus FS-3 NP

The Focus FS-3 (NTSC) unit is designed for mounting directly to camcorders or other devices that feature an NP Battery System. It also includes a single FSHDD 40GB FireWire disk drive.

Focus FS-3 PAG

The Focus FS-3 (NTSC) unit is made for mounting directly to camcorders or other devices that feature a PAG Battery System. It also includes a single FSHDD 40GB FireWire disk drive.

Focus DR-DV5000

The Focus DR-DV5000 is specially designed for use with JVC full-size DV camcorders. It includes all of the features of the standard FS-3 plus a cable-less camcorder connection, viewfinder-based Focus FS status display and dump-to-tape and dump-to-disk record modes.
