Carbon MPEG Grid Encoder - Network Encoding

Rhozet's Carbon MPEG Grid Encoder encodes to MPEG2 with speeds only limited by the CPU of your systems and the bandwidth of your network connections. The Grid Encoder divides processing over a group of CPU’s in one computer and/or over a group of inexpensive computers to provide maximum processing performance for faster-than-realtime speeds. Using Carbon MPEG Grid Encoders, organizations can encode hours of SD or HD footage to MPEG2 in a fraction of the time it takes other more-expensive hardware and software-based solutions. For example, utilizing a render farm comprised of 4 dual Intel® Xeon™ processor-based systems connected via Gigabit Ethernet, the Rhozet™ Carbon MPEG Grid Encoder can encode a full-length SD movie (90 minutes) to MPEG2 in DVD publishing quality in only 9 minutes. On the same platform, it can encode a 90-minute movie to an HDV (1080i) compliant MPEG2 HD transport stream in approximately 30 minutes. Your actual speed might vary, depending on the subsystem performance such as hard drive speed and network connection speed available.

Saves space and time

The Rhozet Carbon MPEG Grid Encoder enables you to convert footage on the fly, without the need to convert existing archives to MPEG. Encode your footage to the MPEG flavor (MPEG1 proxy or MPEG2 full size, I frame only, program or transport stream, VBR or CBR, low bitrate or high bitrate) you require when it is needed on the fly – the grid encoder can be scaled to fully utilize the transport channels you have so that it virtually becomes a copy process, no longer a time consuming encode process limited to real time. You can save storage cost and rack space, in addition you can reduce your need for expensive real time bound hardware encoders.

Once installed as a part of your workflow, the MPEG grid encoder acts like an appliance – no need for human interaction is required. The Rhozet Carbon MPEG Grid Encoder will become a seamless part of your infrastructure, maintenance and operation free.

Grows with you

The grid encoder can be scaled to fulfill your growing performance needs. If more then one stream is required, multiple MPEG grid encoders can cooperate. If a single stream must be encoded faster, simply add another machine to your computing grid – which can happen during conversion, without interrupting running processes – and you will immediately see the increase in encoding speed. If you need to repurpose a machine, simply disconnect it from the grid – the grid encoder will automatically adjust to that, without failing on any conversion task.
